This is as straightforward as I know how to ask the question. It is something I've never understood. Thanks. Why do so many Christians object to the theory of evolution, and why so strongly?
I think they're in the minority -- it just doesn't feel like it, since they make so much racket about it.
From what I have read, they are so wrapped up in the untenable idea that everything in the Bible must be read 100% literally, that it causes them to deny scientific fact.
It seems like they assume that to say the Bible is not 100% literal, means that it isn't true. Which of course is ridiculous. Why do so many Christians object to the theory of evolution, and why so strongly?
Some Christians have only one tool to interpret the bible. This is to use a black and white literal interpretation of the bible.
If Creationists use this tool to interpret the bible then Creationists would conclude that God made the world in six days six thousand years ago. Then Creationists find themselves in contradiction with what everyone else has accepted that the world has existed for a longer time than anyone can conceive. In an ancient world evolution makes sense.
By objecting to the theory of evolution Creationists think they are defending the truths of what they believe.
Intelligent people run into a mental brick wall trying to sort out the confusion but even if other creationists try to take this shoddy tool away and replace it with a more efficient Interpretative tools, then Creationists get more defensive because it is the only tool that they have.
God is Creator of the world; evolution is not the enemy.
Honestly I think it's good on a small scale. Variations of a species to adapt. But not from one into another. They haven't found any transition fossils and the gap for how long this evolution takes seems to have gotten bigger over the last few years. It isn't compatible with the Bible. I just don't think it's what all the evolutionists are hoping it is. There is a book on some alleged transition fossils called Bones of Contention. Which I read into but i didn't get to finish. And a lot of the alleged transition fossils have been a tiny piece or pieces but have been made out to be full profile animals. Lucy was made out of part of a skull and some teeth. Her whole body. Forgive me if the specifics are off but its been a year or so since I read it. And a lot of times it seems like with evidence or theories or whatever they they start with science and then jump to faith then back to science. Evolution for me would take a lot of faith to believe in.
my guess is that to them, it takes away the importance of their existence. the same can be said about muslims and jews. i really don't see their argument. if we only had this life to live, it makes it infinitely more important to live this life the best we can. our one life is as unique and special as a work of art. no one life is the same as another. we are that more special when we remove god/s out of our mortal lives.

Because evolution contradicts the bible.
God created everything in six literal days just as it says in Genesis not in 40 billion years.
That's what they're told to do by their pastors. I don't think the decent God fearing people would give a damn if it weren't for the insistence of their religious leadership. They'd just ignore it.
I don't know. Why is it so hard to accept? I think that God created everything. So He created monkeys first. We evolved.
Big deal.
I am a Christian. I accept evolution, so I can't help you.
Simply because I can
Because it says in Genesis that God created each creature (to reproduce) after their own kind, and that went for plants as well.
and Christians believe the Bible is true
It is annoying that evolution has gained so much popularity nowadays, but it is not something I feel so strongly about that I would lose my composure about it.
Because, God created the world. It is simply that and there is nothing else to it. People didn't 'evolve' from ape-like creatures, we were created by God when He created the world. I can't fathom why some people don't believe God did this, and think the world just magically appeared by the big bang.
The theory of evolution is a direct contradiction of the Old Testament of the Bible, in which the Christian God created heaven and earth and man and woman. That is as straigt forward as I can think of to answer your question!!!
Christians object to the idea of evolution because it says straight from Genesis that God created all living things.
And this is as straightforward an answer as I can give: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.....Genesis.
I believe the bible.
