How do I isolate an object within a photo using photoshop CS3 extended?

I want to isolate an object and put it onto a white backgroundHow do I isolate an object within a photo using photoshop CS3 extended?
There are loads of selection tools in CS3 probably the easiest is the Quick Selection Tool (under the Magic Wand Tool), just paint over what you want to select.

Once you have your selection, by whatever means (shown by the 'marching ants'), copy it to a new Layer (Ctrl + J), by default the background will be transparent, if you want it white just open a new Layer and fill with White an set it below the cut out Layer. Having the Layer transparent means its a simple job to Copy and Paste onto any other picture.

On you Image use the lasso toot to outline the object that you want, copy and paste it on to the same image. Open a new doc and drag what you have pasted on the image on to the new one... hope that helps, I am not sure how well you know photoshop so you still may not understand.

You can use the magic wand or lasso tool to select the object, then create a layer mask. Copy it and paste on your white background.
