Guillotine - it's just the guy's name who invented it. And t was invented so that it would be a more HUMANE way of killing people. I guess before Mr. Guillotine invented this thing, they'd chop at people's heads with an ax, and it would take a few swings to get their head all the way off. The Guillotine got it off in one go.
