At the moment that care passes you, which motion quantity is the same for both cars -- position, velocity, or both?Which quantities are the same when one object passes another during that exact moment -- velocity or position?
at that instant - the positions are the same by definition.
but the velocities cannot be the same. while direction is the same for both cars, the two speeds are not. otherwise the other car could not have caught and passed you.
as velocity is a vector (speed + direction), then the velocities cannot be the same at this instant, because the two speeds are different...
